Putin: Kim Jong-un will visit Vladivostok and Komsomolsk-on-Amur

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will visit Vladivostok, as well as aircraft manufacturing plants in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this on air of the “60 Minutes” program on the Rossiya-1 TV channel.
“The chairman has a big program ahead. He’s still flying from here to Komsomolsk-on-Amur and will visit factories where aviation equipment, both civilian and military, is produced,” he said.
Putin added that Kim Jong-un will then go to Vladivostok, where a “military unit through the Ministry of Defense” is planned. We are talking about demonstrating the capabilities of the Pacific Fleet, the president explained. The DPRK leader will also visit the North-Eastern Federal University and inspect several facilities of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in particular, a laboratory that deals with marine biology.
On September 13, Putin and Kim Jong-un met at the Vostochny cosmodrome. Leaders first held negotiations in an expanded format, and then continued the meeting in a tete-a-tete format. Commenting on the negotiations, Putin said that “a very frank exchange of views took place on the situation in the region, on bilateral relations.”
The DPRK leader arrived in Russia on September 12 at the invitation of the Russian president. This is the second visit of the North Korean leader to Russia. The first was in 2019, Putin and Kim Jong-un met in Vladivostok.
