Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed to improve the system of providing psychological assistance, paying special attention to supporting military personnel suffering from the consequences of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Relevant instruction of the head of state put forward following a meeting with young scientists.

Particular attention should be paid to psychological support not only for military personnel with PTSD, but also for their families, as well as refugees and internally displaced persons (including children and adolescents). Improving systems for providing psychological assistance should include the development of the necessary methodological framework, as well as the organization of retraining and advanced training for psychologists.

As a separate item, Mr. Putin also instructed to develop and submit proposals for the establishment of a new professional holiday in Russia – Psychologist’s Day.

In 2022, the demand for psychological assistance services has increased dramatically in Russia. Experts attribute the increased rates to both political events and a natural increase in the popularity of psychological assistance.

More about this – in the material “Kommersant” “Psychologists are on alert”.
