Putin instructed to form youth rejection of the crimes of the Nazis and the Ukrainian regime

President Vladimir Putin instructed The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Digital Development should prepare information materials for the formation among young people of “aversion to the crimes of the Nazis, as well as the Ukrainian regime that came to power after the coup d’état in 2014.” The instruction was given following a meeting with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, residents of besieged Leningrad and representatives of public patriotic associations on January 18, 2023. Mr. Putin expects a report on the execution of the order until June 30, 2023, after which – once a year.
In February 2014, President Viktor Yanukovych was ousted from power in Ukraine after riots led to casualties. After a referendum in March of the same year, Crimea became part of Russia. In April of this 2014, an armed conflict began in the Donbass. In February 2022, Russia announced the start of a military operation, the purpose of which was the “demilitarization and denazification” of Ukraine.
In 2014 in Russia introduced criminal liability – up to three years in prison – for the rehabilitation of Nazism, in 2021 the punishment was tightened.
