Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to develop measures to support the common-law wives of deceased combatants on the territory of Ukraine. This is stated in the list of instructions that the president gave following a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights (HRC).

“Submit proposals on measures to support the wives of persons killed (died) while performing the tasks of a special military operation, and women who did not marry such persons, but lived together with them, ran a common household or have common children,” the text says instructions (quote from Kremlin website).

Support measures include material support, medical care, opportunities for education, advanced training, and professional retraining. If necessary, changes will be made to the legislation, the order says.
