Putin increased taxation of oil and gas companies in 2023-2025

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a federal law on amendments to the budget of the Russian Federation. In particular, the tax burden on the gas and oil industries will increase in 2023-2025. Corresponding document published on the Legal Information Portal.
The document provides:
- withdrawal from Gazprom in 2023-2025 in total 1.8 trillion rubles. (50 billion rubles per month);
- adjustment from January 1, 2023 of the tax rate when calculating the MET for natural gas;
- income tax for LNG exporters (this category includes companies that exported at least one LNG shipment by the end of 2022) is increased by 34% in 2023-2025;
- temporary increase (from January 1 to March 31, 2023) of MET rates by RUB 380 per ton for all grades of coal, except brown;
- preservation of the price discount when determining the damper for motor gasoline until the end of 2025;
- increasing the tax burden on oil companies.
The relevant amendments were accepted State Duma in the second and third readings on November 10. According to Kommersant, these measures can give the budget an additional 3 trillion rubles. in 2023–2025.
