Russian President Vladimir Putin held an operational meeting with permanent members of the Security Council via video conference. The topic of discussion was the development of territories in the North, including the Northern Sea Route.
“Today we will talk about issues related to the development of the North. This concerns the Northern Sea Route, the continental shelf, and some other issues,” the president said (quoted from TASS). After that, he gave the floor to the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Alexander Kozlov. Details of the meeting are not disclosed.
Under sanctions, Russian oil companies began to use the Northern Sea Route more often to transport Urals. According to Kommersant, in July and August, Rosneft and Gazprom Neft sent three oil cargoes from the Leningrad region to China via it.
