Russian President Vladimir Putin made a speech at the rally-concert “10 years in his native harbor”, dedicated to the entry of Crimea into the Russian Federation. Together with Vladimir Putin, presidential candidates took the stage: Vladislav Davankov (New People), Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) and Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation).
“Exactly 10 years ago on Red Square, as I stood up on this stage, I remembered that Crimea is often called an unsinkable aircraft carrier. This gave rise to the idea of saying that Crimea has returned to its native harbor,” the president began his speech. According to him, the residents of Crimea carried their faith in their fatherland through the decades and did not separate themselves from Russia, which “allowed Crimea to return to our common family.”
The President emphasized that in 2014, residents of Novorossiya and Donbass expressed a desire to become part of Russia, but their path “turned out to be much more difficult and tragic.” Afterwards, Vladimir Putin gave the floor to the candidates for the presidency and congratulated the Russians on the holiday. Then the Russian anthem was played.
The concert featured performances by Polina Gagarina, Nikolai Baskov, Grigory Leps, Nikolai Rastorguev, “Hands Up!”, “Lube” and others. On the backstage, presenter Marina Kim and blogger Vyacheslav Manucharov communicate with the show participants. The live broadcast footage shows that many people came to the event – almost the entire Red Square is occupied, many have Russian flags in their hands.
On March 16, 2014, a referendum on joining Russia was held in Crimea. On March 18, 2014, Vladimir Putin, based on the results of the referendum, signed an agreement on the entry of Crimea into the Russian Federation. From Crimea, the agreement on the admission of the peninsula and the city of Sevastopol to Russia was signed by three people: Sergei Aksenov, Vladimir Konstantinov, Alexey Chaly (then chairman of the coordinating council for the creation of a department for ensuring the life of Crimea).
