Putin extended the food embargo until the end of 2024

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the food embargo imposed back in 2014 against a number of countries until the end of 2024. Decree this was published on the legal information portal.
“Extend from January 1 to December 31, 2024 the validity of certain special economic measures provided for by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation <...> “On the application of certain special economic measures to ensure the security of the Russian Federation,” the document says.
The government of the country has been entrusted with the implementation of all measures necessary to implement the decree. The document comes into force on September 18.
Putin signed a decree banning or restricting the import of agricultural products, raw materials and food from a number of countries on August 6, 2014. Western states fell under its influence and imposed sectoral economic sanctions against Moscow due to the reunification of Crimea and Russia. The embargo included, for example, meat, fish, shellfish, milk and dairy products, vegetables and fruits from the EU, USA, Canada, Australia and Norway. Countersanctions were introduced for a year, but the embargo is extended every year. The previous time the decree was extended in October 2022.
