Putin expressed condolences over the death of miners in Kazakhstan

Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed condolences in connection with the accident at a coal mine in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan, which killed 28 people. A telegram addressed to the President of the Republic Kasym-Jomart Tokayev was published on the Kremlin website.
“Please convey words of sympathy and support to the families of the deceased miners, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured. We hope for the rescue of the miners remaining underground,” it says in condolences.
The accident at the Kostenko coal mine in Karaganda occurred on the morning of October 28. As a result of the methane explosion, according to the latest data, 28 miners were killed, and another 18 people remain underground. Of the 252 miners, 208 were brought to the surface; the search and rescue operation continues.
October 29 was declared a day of national mourning in Kazakhstan for the victims, the press service of the President of the Republic reported. Tokayev himself arrived in the Karaganda region, where the emergency occurred, and met with the families of the dead miners. He also promised to find out the circumstances of the accident.
The head of state instructed to stop investment cooperation with the Arcelormittal Temirtau company after the incident.
