Putin exempted SVO participants from paying interest during the credit holiday period

President Vladimir Putin signed a law exempting participants in military operations in Ukraine from paying interest on loans and borrowings that accumulated during the credit holiday. Document published on the legal information portal.

According to the amendments approved by the president, interest accrued during the credit holiday on loans and borrowings for the military will be written off. If part of the interest has already been paid, these funds will be used to offset the repayment of the principal debt or other obligations.

During the second reading, deputies introduced amendments that included among the recipients of benefits were employees of the Russian Guard who were in the combat zone in Ukraine.

About 50% of lost income to banks will be reimbursed from the federal budget. The financial and economic justification for the law states that the amendments will cost the federal budget 5.7 billion rubles.
