Putin established the Order of Gagarin – Kommersant

President Vladimir Putin signed decree on the establishment of the Order of Gagarin. The document dated May 27 comes into force from the date of signing.
The Order of Gagarin is a five-pointed star framed by silver shtrals. The star is covered with blue enamel with a symbolic image of the starry sky, three stars on which are decorated with cubic zirkonia. In the field of a five-pointed star is a bust portrait of Yuri Gagarin in a pressure helmet, half turned to the right. On the reverse side there is a relief inscription “YURI GAGARIN” and the number of the badge of the order. It is made of silver with enamel.
The Order of Gagarin is awarded to citizens of the Russian Federation for:
- successful implementation of a manned space flight;
- outstanding merits in the organization and successful implementation of space flight;
- outstanding achievements in the implementation of state policy in the field of space activities, including in the interests of defense and security;
- outstanding achievements in the development and trouble-free operation of rocket and space technology;
- great merits in the training of scientific and engineering personnel.
The Order of Gagarin can also be awarded to foreign citizens and groups of organizations, regardless of their form of ownership, for cooperation in the field of outer space.
