Putin removed Girichev, deputy director of the Federal Penitentiary Service, from his post
Russian President Vladimir Putin fired the deputy director of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Lieutenant General Alexei Girichev. The corresponding decree appeared on the official website of legal acts.
“Relieve Lieutenant General of the Internal Service Aleksey Ivanovich Girichev from the post of Deputy Director of the Federal Penitentiary Service,” the text of the decree says.
The decree comes into force on the date of signing, February 7, 2024.
Girichev has worked in this post since March 2023, less than a year. The reason for the dismissal is not stated.
