The Russian command of the special operation is acting professionally – soldiers and officers courageously fulfill their duty to the Motherland, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with permanent members of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

“The whole world sees that the vaunted Western, supposedly invulnerable equipment is on fire, and in terms of its tactical and technical data, it is often even inferior to some types of weapons from the Soviet production,” the president noted. Putin estimated the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the counteroffensive at tens of thousands of people.

According to the president, the supply of Western weapons causes some damage and prolongs the conflict. “Firstly, NATO arsenals and stockpiles of old Soviet weapons in some states are already largely depleted. And secondly, the existing production capacities in the West do not allow you to quickly replenish the consumption of equipment reserves,” he added.

According to the President, Western curators of Ukraine are disappointed with the counter-offensive, as there are no results, and the colossal resources that were “pumped” into the Kiev regime are not helping. Putin noted that the mobilization resource of Ukraine is depleted, and people increasingly have questions about whose interests their loved ones are dying. At the same time, the president pointed out that public opinion is changing in Europe, and people see that support for Ukraine leads to a dead end.

According to the head of state, the leaders of some Eastern European states want to “warm their hands” on the Ukrainian tragedy, use Russophobia as an instrument of domestic policy and kindle the fire of war.

During the meeting, they also discussed Poland’s plans for the western territories of Ukraine. Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergei Naryshkin said that Warsaw wants to take control of these territories. “Such a step, as one of the options, is planned to be formalized as the fulfillment of allied obligations within the framework of the Polish-Lithuanian-Ukrainian initiative in the field of security – this is the so-called Lublin Triangle. We see what is planned in this regard and to significantly increase the strength of the combined-arms Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade,” Naryshkin emphasized.

Putin expressed the hope that the SVR and other special services would closely monitor developments. A regular military unit can be used for the “subsequent occupation of territories” in the west of Ukraine, the president believes. “After all, the prospect is obvious – if the Polish units enter, for example, Lviv or other territories of Ukraine, then they will remain there. And they will remain forever,” the Russian leader noted.

At the same time, the president said that Russia is ready to defend Belarus – the Union State, since Poland also has dreams about the Belarusian lands. Putin warned that unleashing aggression against Minsk would mean aggression against Russia.

At the beginning of the meeting, Putin also said that he plans to discuss with members of the Security Council the development of relations with African countries. “Today we have several questions, one of them is the development of relations with our friends on the African continent, Russia will soon host the Russia-Africa summit. And a question related to such an important area as the use of information technology, of course, in relation to ensuring the country’s security,” the president said.
