Putin discussed with the ex-Wagner commander the formation of volunteer units

Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov and Andrei Troshev, ex-commander of the Wagner PMC. They discussed the formation of volunteer units, including those for work in the special operation zone. “At the last meeting, we talked about the fact that you will form volunteer units that can perform various combat missions, primarily, of course, in the zone of a special military operation. You yourself fought in such a unit for more than a year. You know what it is, how it’s done, you know about the issues that need to be resolved in advance so that combat work goes in the best and most successful way,” the president addressed the ex-commander of the PMC (quote from website Kremlin).

The President also assured Andrei Troshev that the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, which helps special operation veterans and their families, will provide social support to all participants in hostilities. “For the country, for the Motherland, it makes no difference in what status a person fought and defended the Fatherland. Therefore, we will also talk about this topic today,” the president added.

Andrey Troshev is a former commander of the Wagner PMC with the call sign “Sedoy”; he did not support the armed rebellion of Yevgeny Prigozhin, which occurred on June 23-24, and signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense.
