Putin discussed strengthening economic ties with the leader of Mali

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the leader of the transition period of the Republic of Mali, Assimi Goita, reported Kremlin press service.
“The mutual commitment to further strengthening trade and economic ties, cooperation in matters of security and the fight against terrorism was confirmed,” the statement said.
The parties also discussed the progress in implementing the agreements following the second Russia-Africa summit in July, and Goyta thanked the Russian President for the diverse assistance provided to the Russian Federation. The conversation took place at the initiative of the Malian side.
Last time Putin said with Goyta on September 10. Then the Russian president expressed condolences in connection with the terrorist attack in northeastern Mali on September 7. The parties also exchanged views on practical measures to further develop cooperation between Russia and Mali in various fields, including trade, economic, humanitarian spheres and the fight against terrorism.
During a July meeting with Goyta in St. Petersburg, Putin statedthat Russia views Mali as one of the key partners in the region and shares an interest in taking bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.
