“It may explode in other hot spots” – Kommersant FM

Washington denies there are plans to send American troops to the Middle East. However, a formation led by the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford is already in the region. The official mission of the group is to demonstrate solidarity with Israel. For now, the ships are based on the open sea. As White House coordinator John Kirby said, there is no talk of landing the military directly on the ground. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize admits that the situation may change.

We can probably say that the civilized world continues to experience a certain shock from everything that is happening. The main question is clear: is it possible for third forces and serious players like, say, Iran, Syria, or any, as they say now, proxy forces to intervene in this war? Accordingly, how likely is it that the conflict will spread and develop into a global confrontation?

Tehran continues to deny its participation in the attack on Israel, but nevertheless welcomes the actions of the Palestinian people in the sacred struggle for their interests. The Western world – primarily America – says that there is no direct evidence on this matter. However, to one degree or another, it is recognized that the Islamic Republic still helps radical groups in one way or another. At least there is public political support, and that’s already a lot.

It seems that an American battle group led by the aircraft carrier Gerald Ford and escort ships, namely a missile cruiser, four destroyers and a nuclear submarine, has already approached the conflict area. All of them are equipped with guided missiles. It was officially stated that the purpose of the campaign was to express support for the ally, and nothing more. There is no information about the participation of the American army in hostilities. And officially such plans are still denied.

The European Union also supported Israel and even announced a freeze on financial assistance to Palestine, although it later changed its mind, noting that it did not want to punish all those in need. It’s not easy for Europe – as you might guess, there are a lot of people from the Middle East there, and they need to be taken into account. International mediators – primarily Qatar, Turkey and Egypt – are trying to somehow organize a dialogue, but, apparently, nothing comes of it. Everyone is waiting for the Israeli ground operation.

And we can probably say that Washington intends to, to some extent, combine financial assistance to both Ukraine and Israel so that there is enough for everyone. This aspect will apparently now be widely discussed in Congress. Meanwhile, some reports are coming from South Korea about fears of an attack from the north. By the way, another American aircraft carrier, the Ronald Reagan, went on a friendly visit to the peninsula.

There is such a general idea that it could explode in other hot spots of the globe. And there are still many of them, unfortunately. Sometimes I would like to say: the 21st century is just around the corner, let’s live well, calmly, not take away from others, but earn money ourselves, improve ourselves. But no, it doesn’t work. And why? Probably someday there will be a definite answer to this, but for now there is none. There is another major escalation, and a quick peaceful solution is clearly not in sight.
