Putin discussed issues of Russian-Iranian cooperation with Raisi

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi, during which they discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda, transmits Kremlin press office.

“Topical issues of the Russian-Iranian agenda were considered with an emphasis on further building up the entire range of bilateral cooperation. In particular, the presidents spoke in favor of consistent implementation of mutually beneficial projects in the energy, transport and logistics sectors.

The heads of state also touched upon issues on the international agenda, including the intention to continue cooperation in order to normalize the situation in Syria and restore its territorial integrity.

Prior to this, the leaders called up on November 12, 2022. Then Putin and Raisi discussed a number of topical issues, including building up cooperation in the political, trade and economic fields, including the transport and logistics sector.

The strengthening of cooperation between Russia and Iran took place against the backdrop of large-scale sanctions imposed against Russia by Western countries. On September 19, Raisi said that the US sanctions policy only contributes to the rapprochement of countries against which restrictions apply. Putin also said that relations with Tehran are developing “in all directions.”
