President Vladimir Putin spent operational meeting with permanent members of the Security Council. In the open part of the meeting, the President raised the issue of ensuring biological safety in the CIS countries.

“Taking into account the problems faced during Covid, and even now, the situation is not the same, of course, thank God, but nevertheless difficult from the point of view of the epidemiological situation,” said Vladimir Putin, after which he invited the head of Rospotrebnadzor to make a report Anna Popova.

The President noted that the issue of biological safety will be discussed at a meeting with the leaders of the CIS countries on December 25–26. Previously, the Kremlin press service reportedthat these days Vladimir Putin will take part in an informal meeting of the heads of state of the CIS as part of a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC).

In December, the press service of Rospotrebnadzor reported that isolated cases of mycoplasma infection had been recorded in the country. In particular, in Karelia there has been an increase in hospitalizations of children for pneumonia caused by the bacterium Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova assuresthat there is currently no new pandemic associated with mycoplasma infection. According to her, there is no reason to believe that this infection has become completely resistant to drugs.
