Putin decided to resume the mega-grant program for researchers

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government and the State Duma to provide funding for the resumption of the mega-grant program for researchers. About this he declared during a speech at the plenary session of the Future Technologies Forum.

He stressed that he often communicates with Russian scientists who work in foreign universities and research centers, many of them want to work in Russia.

“Including the question of resuming our mega-grant program, which allows us to assemble strong research teams and solve interesting scientific problems, is being raised. This proposal is fully supported,” Putin said.

In this regard, the president asked the government and the State Duma to provide in the federal budget for the planning period until 2026 the necessary funding to resume the mega-grant program for researchers.

Putin also announced the need to increase the size of mega-grants and increase the duration of their implementation to five years with the possibility of extending for another three years.

The mega-grant program was launched in Russia in 2010 and involves international cooperation between Russian scientific organizations and leading foreign scientific centers. In the Ministry of Education and Science earlier toldthat scientists from other countries, including the USA, Germany, Great Britain, etc., also applied for participation in the competition. The program was developed within the framework of the national project “Science”.
