Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Indian President Draupadi Murma and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3 space station’s Vikram module on the Moon. About it reported on the Kremlin website.
“This is a big step in the exploration of outer space and, of course, evidence of the impressive progress made by India in the scientific and technological field,” the text of the congratulation says.
Putin also wished the Indian Space Research Organization new achievements.
With the landing of the module at the south pole of the moon India became the fourth country in the world to achieve a soft landing on the Earth’s satellite – after the USSR, the USA and China. The Russian station Luna-25, launched earlier this month, crashed on August 19 after its propulsion system lasted 127 seconds instead of 84 when trying to enter the pre-landing orbit.
Earlier today, during the BRICS Leaders’ Summit, the Prime Minister of India offered consider setting up a space research consortium. Now countries are working on a common constellation of satellites.
