Putin conducted training of strategic nuclear deterrent forces

Russian President and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin conducted training of strategic nuclear deterrent forces. About it reported Kremlin press service.

“Training was conducted with the forces and means of the ground, sea and air components of the nuclear deterrent forces. During the training, practical launches of ballistic and cruise missiles took place,” the statement said. The training of the forces was coordinated from the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation.

The Yars intercontinental ballistic missile was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome at the Kura test site in Kamchatka. Also, as part of the exercise, the Sineva ballistic missile was launched from the strategic nuclear-powered missile submarine cruiser Tula in the Barents Sea.

The Kremlin said that Tu-95MS long-range aircraft took part in the training. They launched air-launched cruise missiles. The events made it possible to test the training of military command and control bodies, as well as the work skills of operational personnel, the Kremlin emphasized.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu during a report to Putin explainedthat during the training the tasks of delivering a massive nuclear strike in response to an enemy nuclear strike are practiced.

In October 2022, also under the leadership of Putin, the Russian strategic deterrent forces held exercises to launch a retaliatory massive nuclear strike in response to an enemy nuclear strike. As part of the exercises, the Yars rocket was also launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome and the Sineva ballistic missile from the Barents Sea. Their goal was the Kura training ground in Kamchatka. Tu-95MS also launched air-launched cruise missiles.
