President Vladimir Putin made a speech at a meeting of the Council of Legislators. He noted the work of parliamentarians on the military operation in Ukraine and support for military personnel. According to him, the work of the federal and regional parliaments has become more “mature and professional.”

Today the State Duma is hosting a meeting of the Council of Legislators dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Federal Assembly. Vladimir Putin began his speech with a story about the 90s. He stated that many laws were not implemented then, but during those years, according to him, the foundations of statehood were created.

“A lot of things were not implemented, that’s true… But do you know what the meaning is and what is the value of the decisions made? The legal foundations of the new statehood were created, at least this is important, the foundations and guidelines were created,” the president said.

Vladimir Putin also noted the work of parliamentary diplomacy at international platforms to promote the sovereign course. He expressed hope that a “deep understanding of Russia’s goals, the fundamental interests of the people” will continue to motivate parliamentarians.

“Dear colleagues, I want to thank you and all your fellow Russian legislators for your joint position on the most important steps aimed at supporting Russian families, our education, healthcare, preserving our culture and traditional values, strengthening the security and economic sovereignty of Russia,” added the president.
