Russian President Vladimir Putin telephoned eight-year-old Kristina Sin from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, whose wish to visit Lake Baikal was fulfilled as part of the “Wish Tree” campaign.
Christina went on a trip during the New Year holidays. She got acquainted with the life of Siberian discoverers at the Taltsy museum, visited the village of Listvyanka, the Baikal Museum of the SB RAS and the nerpinarium.
“Christina, good afternoon, do you recognize me?” – the head of state asked the girl. Christina replied that she found out. Putin asked how she was relaxing on Lake Baikal. The girl talked about visiting the museum, about how she even sank to the bottom of the famous lake, but thanks to virtual reality. The President responded by saying that he dived to the bottom of Lake Baikal, but in reality, Putin did this in 2009 on the Mir-1 deep-sea submersible.
The Russian leader also spoke with the girl’s parents. Putin wished the family all the best, and Kristina success in her studies and sports – the girl has the first category in sports aerobics.
