The main goal of the special military operation in Ukraine is the elimination of the anti-Russian enclave that is being created on the territory of the country, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at an open lesson “Talk about the important” in Kaliningrad.
“On the territory of today’s Ukraine, they began to create an anti-Russian enclave that threatens our country. Therefore, our guys who are fighting there are protecting both the inhabitants of Donbass and protecting Russia itself. And this, of course, deserves the support of the whole society,” the head of state said (quote by Interfax).
According to the head of state, Russia’s mission in Ukraine is to end the war that Kyiv waged against the Donbass. “Our task, the mission of our soldiers, the militia of Donbass is to stop this war, to protect people. Of course, to protect Russia itself,” he concluded.
Putin announced the start of the special operation on February 24. Then the president called its goal the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as the protection of the civilian population of Donbass from genocide. During his speech at the Luzhniki Stadium at a concert in honor of the annexation of Crimea on March 18, Putin said that the main goal of the special operation was “to save people from this suffering and genocide.” In Ukraine, after the start of the special operation, martial law was introduced and mobilization was announced.
