Putin called the creation of a nuclear power plant in space a priority

The creation of a nuclear power plant in space needs to be given special attention. This statement was made on Thursday, March 14, by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

The head of state commented on the words of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, who revealed the details of the national project to strengthen the sovereignty of Russian space communications. This, among other things, implies the creation of transport modules based on a nuclear power plant.

Putin noted that we are talking “about some areas in which we have good competencies and, moreover, we even have some groundwork that we can be proud of and that we can count on in the future.” As an example, the president named the notorious nuclear installation. According to the head of state, special attention needs to be paid to it so that it can be used in the future to solve specific problems.

On March 1, Vladimir Putin discussed possible threats in the space sector at an operational meeting with the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The head of state recalled the lies being made in the West regarding the alleged deployment of nuclear weapons by the Russian Federation in space, and emphasized that Our country has no such plans.

At the same time, informed sources in Washington announced that the United States authorities are developing a UN Security Council resolution on the non-placement of nuclear weapons in outer space. It is expected that the document will be officially presented by the end of March.
