Vladimir Putin, the leader in the Russian presidential elections, said that he considers solving problems within the framework of the Northern Military District to be one of the main goals in this post. According to him, the government’s task is to achieve all its goals using the trust of Russians.
“First of all, we need to solve problems within the framework of the Northern Military District, strengthen our defense capabilities, and strengthen our armed forces. This is happening at a very good pace and with excellent quality,” said Vladimir Putin at his election headquarters in Gostiny Dvor.
After processing 70.03% of the protocols, Vladimir Putin (self-nominated) is in the lead in the elections with 87.17% of the votes. Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) gains 4.19%, Vladislav Davankov (New People) – 4.08%, Leonid Slutsky (LDPR) – 3.15%. The overall turnout was 74.22% (as of 18:00 Moscow time).
