Russian President Vladimir Putin noted the municipal officials who voluntarily went to work in new regions. He called on Russian municipal employees to help them “with warmth and care”.

“I know that among the municipal community there are many volunteers who have made the decision to be there. Where it’s hard. They showed an example of devotion to the Motherland and its interests. And now they are defending our historical territories and protecting the people and inhabitants of these territories, who for many years, I want to emphasize this, for many years fought for the right to be together with Russia, to be part of our common world. For many years they lived in completely different conditions and different from Russian conditions and regional and municipal government. And you need to provide your colleagues with warmth and care all the necessary assistance in integrating new regions into the unified system of public power in Russia,” Mr. Putin said at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Local Self-Government.

Russia, during the military operation in Ukraine, annexed the Donetsk, Lugansk People’s Republics, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Ukraine does not recognize these decisions of Moscow.
