Putin called for introducing the study of artificial intelligence in school

In Russia, it is possible to introduce the study of artificial intelligence (AI) in school if educational programs are structured correctly. This opinion was expressed on Wednesday, November 29, by Russian leader Vladimir Putin.

During a conversation with participants in the III Congress of Young Scientists, the head of state commented on the story that in China they are starting to study artificial intelligence from school. According to Putin, “given the level of education in Russia, this is absolutely normal for us, we can handle it.”

The main issue in this regard is to build school programs correctly – according to age, the president emphasized. However, he pointed out that it is not enough just to introduce the study of artificial intelligence into school curricula – we need to work on its implementation and development “broader and deeper.”

Earlier, Vladimir Putin said that the development of AI cannot be banned or paused, since in this case new technologies will appear “elsewhere” and Russia will lag behind. At the same time, the President of the Russian Federation called traditional culture the support that will ensure the safety of artificial intelligence technologies.

Chairman of the Commission on Ethics in the Field of Artificial Intelligence Andrei Neznamov called it unlikely that the events of the film “Terminator” and Judgment Day would come to life in real life due to artificial intelligence.
