Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev with the Order of Alexander Nevsky. The relevant decree published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
“For a great contribution to the implementation of the foreign policy of the Russian Federation and many years of conscientious diplomatic service, award the Order of Alexander Nevsky Andreev Sergey Vadimovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Poland,” follows from the document.
In 1999 – 2002 the diplomat served as Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Angola and the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe, in 2006-2010. – in Norway. Since August 26, 2014, he has been the Russian Ambassador to Poland.
On May 9, Andreev arrived at the military cemetery in Warsaw, where Soviet soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War are buried. There, he and representatives of the Russian delegation were met by a group of people with Ukrainian and Polish flags, who doused the Russian ambassador with red liquid and did not allow them to lay flowers at the memorial. The diplomat was forced to leave the event. He later reported that he was doused with red syrup.
