Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia Ella Pamfilova said that registration for the election of senior officials in the country’s constituent entities has been completed. Of the 75 applicants, 71 received the candidate status, 4 were refused. According to her, the failure rate this year is “unprecedentedly low.”
“There is an unprecedented low percentage of failures compared to previous campaigns. Failure rate: 2022 – 5.3%, 2021 – 20%, ”quotes Ella Pamfilova Telegram CEC.
Candidates from 11 political parties and 2 self-nominated candidates are registered.
“The remaining 13 out of the originally declared 88 who wanted to compete for the title of governor did not bring registration documents for various reasons,” said Ella Pamfilova. According to her, the average competition in the election of governors will be five contenders per seat.
The election campaign for the 2022 elections started on June 4. As previously reported by Kommersant, the number of participants admitted to the elections is a record since 2012, when the “municipal filter” was introduced – the conditional name for the procedure for collecting signatures in support of the nomination of a candidate for governor. Of the parliamentary parties, only the LDPR and the New People in Karelia failed to register their candidates. Almost all parliamentary parties in Moscow saved almost all of their nominees.
