Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the President of the Republika Srpska (RS, part of Bosnia and Herzegovina) Milorad Dodik with the Order of Alexander Nevsky. Presidential decree published on the Legal Information Portal.
“For a great contribution to the development of cooperation between the Russian Federation and Bosnia and Herzegovina, strengthening partnership with the Republika Srpska,” Dodik was awarded in the decree.
May, 23rd took place meeting between Putin and Dodik in Moscow. The Russian president then thanked Dodik for supporting interest in the Russian language and culture at the state level, as well as for his neutral position on the events in Ukraine. In response, the Bosnian Serb leader stated that the republic remains “stubborn in its political stance”. According to him, Russia tried to provide security guarantees, but in the end was forced to launch a special operation in Ukraine. Dodik added that the Republika Srpska stands for an early peaceful settlement of the situation.
On May 22, Dodik met in Moscow with Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation. The press service of the Security Council specified that the parties exchanged views “on the problems of regional security in modern geopolitical conditions.”
