Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Russia Day in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, during a solemn ceremony, presented the State Prize in Science and Technology for 2022 to the Director of the Moscow Clinical Research Center. The scientist was awarded for a breakthrough achievement in scientific substantiation and implementation in practice of methods of complex treatment of patients with tumor lesions of the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space, including minimally invasive surgical and robotic technologies.
The Moscow Scientific Center noted that Igor Khatkov is one of the founders of laparoscopic surgery in oncology. For the first time in Russia, he performed a unique laparoscopic operation for pancreatic cancer and developed a number of innovative solutions that made it possible to introduce minimally traumatic operations for various types of abdominal cancer.
