Putin awarded guards status to three army brigades for courage and heroism

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees on the assignment of honorary names to the 16th separate Khingan, 35th Tallinn Order of the Red Star and 297th anti-aircraft missile brigades of the Armed Forces. According to documentsthese brigades received the status of “guards”.

As noted in the decrees of the head of state, the titles were awarded to the brigades “for mass heroism and courage, fortitude and courage shown by army personnel in combat operations to defend the Fatherland in armed conflicts.”

Vladimir Putin’s decrees on assigning “guards” names to brigades comes into force today, November 8.

The 35th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade is a formation of air defense forces of the Russian Ground Forces, the formation was formed in Buryatia. The 16th separate Khingan brigade is part of the radiation, chemical and biological defense troops of the Ground Forces, they are based in the city of Lesozavodsk (Primorsky Territory). The 297th Guards Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade is part of the air defense forces and is based in the Penza region.
