Putin appoints new ambassador to Mongolia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed a new ambassador to Mongolia. The decree signed by the head of state is published on the portal of legal information.
“Appoint Aleksey Nikolayevich Evsikov Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia,” says in the document.
Other decree Putin removed the previous ambassador to Mongolia, Iskander Azizov. He has held this post since 2013. Montsame Mongolian News Agency reported about the resignation of Azizov at the end of December 2022. Then the diplomat was received by the Minister of Defense of the Republic Gursadiin Saikhanbayar. He awarded the ambassador with an honorary badge “For military cooperation”.
Evsikov is a graduate of MGIMO. The diplomat has been working in the system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1984, at the beginning of his career he held various positions in the central office of the ministry and the embassies of the USSR and Russia in China.
From 2010 to 2015, he worked as Deputy Director of the First Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. In particular, Evsikov oversaw trade, economic, energy, investment and humanitarian cooperation with China. In 2015, he was appointed Consul General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai. Prior to his current appointment, Evsikov served as Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
