Putin added that the countries “have the same view on the causes, course and logic” of the ongoing changes in the field of geopolitics. He also pointed to pressure and provocations from the West. According to the Russian leader, in such conditions, the Russian Federation and China continue to defend not only their own interests, but also those of those countries that support “a truly democratic world order.”
Putin said that relations between Russia and China are the best in history. He called them a model of great power cooperation in the 21st century. The President of the Russian Federation also drew attention to the fact that relations between the two countries “withstand all tests.”
December 30 Putin and Xi Jinping carry out video conversations. The Kremlin announced a meeting of the two leaders the day before, on December 29. They will make opening remarks in public, then the negotiations will continue in a closed format.
Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov specified that the heads of state intend to discuss issues related to bilateral Russian-Chinese relations, and the leaders will also discuss “acute regional problems.” Some of these themes are “closer to Russia” and some are “closer to China,” he explained.
