There are cases of sale of the fertile layer of land and round timber from Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with representatives of patriotic and youth organizations.

“I don’t know who and when was selling the fertile layer of land from Ukraine, although there are such facts. And they sell roundwood there, although there is not so much of it, not like in Siberia. Soon all the Carpathians will remain bald there,” the head of state said (quote according to TASS).

The President noted that “this is their business.” “But I can’t imagine that land is being sold along with human remains, it just doesn’t fit in my head,” Putin commented on the statement of Yunarmiya member Lev Kravchenko, who spoke about how a German farmer found in his garden medal of a Red Army soldier who died in 1944 in battles in Ukraine.

Putin flew to Volgograd earlier today. The trip of the head of state is timed to coincide with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad.
