Putin announced Russia’s openness to the negotiation process on Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin has carefully studied China’s plan for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The Russian leader said this during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in the Kremlin, emphasizing Russia’s openness to the negotiation process.

“We have carefully studied your proposals for resolving the acute crisis in Ukraine. Of course, we will have the opportunity to discuss this issue. We know that you proceed from the principles of justice and observance of the fundamental provisions of international law, indivisible security for all countries. You are also aware that we are always open to the negotiation process. We will discuss all these issues, including your initiatives, which we certainly treat with respect,” he said.

Today in the Kremlin passes informal meeting of the leaders of Russia and China. The main day of the state visit of the President of China is scheduled for March 21, during which negotiations will take place in a narrow and expanded format, as well as the signing of documents and statements for the media.

Former press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov saidthat the topics of China’s peace plan for Ukraine will be touched upon during the talks between the heads of state. According to Peskov, Putin will give comprehensive explanations on the situation in Ukraine.

February 24 China introduced their proposals for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. The document, consisting of 12 points, was published on the website of the country’s Foreign Ministry. Among the points are respect for the sovereignty of all countries, the rejection of the Cold War mentality, the cessation of hostilities and the promotion of a dialogue between Moscow and Kiev, the reduction of strategic risks, countering the use or threat of use of nuclear weapons, etc.
