Putin announced a minute of silence at the World Russian People’s Council

President Vladimir Putin, during a speech at the 25th Congress of the World Russian People’s Council (VRNS), declared a minute of silence in memory of those killed in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine. In it, the president speaks via video link from Sochi.
At the beginning of his speech, Vladimir Putin thanked the members of the VRNS for their assistance to the participants in the military operation and their families. “I know that many representatives of the World Russian People’s Council are now in the Donbass and Novorossiya among volunteers,” the president said. He noted that members of the VRNS are currently “protecting our brothers and sisters, millions of people” in the Lugansk and Donetsk people’s republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
“They fought for us, for our homeland, eternal memory to them,” said Vladimir Putin.
This year the XXV Congress of the VRNS is taking place on November 27-28 in Moscow. Yesterday the cathedral events took place in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Today’s meeting of the VRNC is taking place in the Kremlin Palace.
