On Wednesday, September 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Politicians discussed the situation in the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
As the press service of the Armenian government said, the Russian leader and the Armenian prime minister also talked about the state and development of relations between Moscow and Yerevan.
The Armenian Cabinet of Ministers does not provide other details about the telephone conversation between Putin and Pashinyan. The Kremlin has not yet commented on this matter.
This message came a few hours after Kremlin Speaker Dmitry Peskov confirmed the agreement on the timing of the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan, but did not provide any details on this matter. At the same time, the official emphasized that both Armenia and Azerbaijan remain important partners of Russia.
However, Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan accused Moscow in failure to fulfill obligations to protect Nagorno-Karabakhas established in the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020.
