Putin and Pashinyan again discussed the situation around Karabakh

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation for the second time in a month, discussing the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, reported on the Kremlin website.
“The development of the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh was discussed, as well as issues of ensuring security on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border,” the report says.
It is noted that during the conversation, which took place at the initiative of the Armenian side, the leaders of the two states reaffirmed their commitment to the tripartite agreements signed in November 2020.
The last time Putin and Pashinyan had a telephone conversation on August 2, the topic of discussion was also Nagorno-Karabakh. On August 3, in the area of the Lachin corridor, clashes between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) took place, ending with the occupation of a number of heights by Azerbaijani troops, allowing fire control of the Lachin corridor highway. The Kremlin then called on the parties to exercise restraint and respect for tripartite agreements.
On November 9, 2020, Armenia and Azerbaijan, mediated by Russia, signed an agreement that ended the war in Nagorno-Karabakh that began on September 27, 2020. Baku and Yerevan agreed on the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of the dead. Under the agreement, Armenian troops were withdrawn from the region, and the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic liberated a number of regions of Azerbaijan. The observance of the ceasefire and the security of the so-called Lachin corridor from Armenia to Karabakh until 2025 is monitored by Russian peacekeepers.
