Putin and Cuban President Diaz-Canel unveil a monument to Castro in Moscow

Presidents of Russia and Cuba Vladimir Putin and Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez unveiled a monument to Cuban revolutionary Fidel Castro in Moscow. The bronze monument to Fidel Castro is located on the square of the same name in the Sokol district. Its height is three meters.
The Russian Ministry of Defense proposed to erect a monument to Fidel Castro. In February of this year, its installation was approved by the Moscow City Duma. A closed competition for the design of the monument was held by the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO). It won the project of sculptor Alexei Chebanenko and architect Andrey Bely.
On November 19, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel arrived in Moscow. After the unveiling of the monument, Vladimir Putin and Mr. Diaz-Canel will hold talks.
