Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony of raising the naval flag on the nuclear submarine Krasnoyarsk and the nuclear submarine Emperor Alexander III in Severodvinsk. The head of state noted that the missile carriers that will be accepted into the navy today have no equal in the whole world.

“We are consistently equipping the Navy with the most modern equipment and weapons and, let me emphasize, we are increasing serial production. Thus, “Emperor Alexander III” is already the seventh ship in the series of Borei-class strategic missile carriers, and the cruiser “Krasnoyarsk” is the fourth ship in the series of Yasen-class multi-purpose nuclear boats,” said Vladimir Putin (quoted by website Kremlin).

“Emperor Alexander III” is the seventh nuclear-powered missile submarine cruiser of Project 955 and the fourth ship of the improved Project 955A. It was laid down in December 2015 and launched in December 2022.

“Krasnoyarsk” is the second serial submarine and the third ship of the 885M project. It was laid down in 2014 and launched in July 2021.

The President noted that in the coming years, as part of the state armament program, three more Borei-A class strategic missile carriers will be transferred to the Navy from the stocks of Sevmash. In particular, the nuclear-powered cruiser Arkhangelsk is at the final stage of construction.

“We will definitely implement all our plans for the construction of submarines and surface ships. We will quantitatively strengthen the combat readiness of the Russian Navy, our naval power in the Arctic, the Far East, the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the Caspian Sea – the most important strategic areas of the world ocean,” concluded Vladimir Putin.

It is expected that after visiting Severodvinsk the head of state will go to Arkhangelsk. This is Vladimir Putin’s first regional trip since he announced about his intention to participate in the 2024 presidential elections.
