Vladimir Putin addressed Russians after the Central Election Commission announced the official voting results in the presidential election. He thanked the Russians for their trust and promised to justify it. According to Mr. Putin, the campaign was intense and extremely responsible, as citizens chose the path that Russia would take next.

“Thank you for your support. For me this is more important than a formal victory in the elections. This is support for the political and economic course of our country, our overall results, which, of course, should be greater, but today they are making Russia even stronger and more independent,” the president addressed the Russians (quote from the website Kremlin).

The President noted that the level of trust shown to him by the Russians “requires even greater commitment and efficiency from me personally and from our entire team.” He assured that the large-scale national projects and programs mentioned in the message to the Federal Assembly will be implemented. “The elections showed that Russia today is one big, friendly family. We walk together along the historical path we have chosen. “We are confident in ourselves, in our abilities and in our future,” the president concluded.

Today, the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova announced official results of the Russian presidential elections. 76,277,708 people voted for Vladimir Putin, his final result was 87.28%. The final turnout for the elections was a record 77.49%. 87,576,075 voters took part in the voting.
