Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted an invitation from Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov to visit the republic this year. This is stated in a joint statement adopted by the heads of state following the meeting in Moscow, reported in the press service of the Kremlin.

The document notes that Zhaparov expresses gratitude to the leadership of Russia and “the entire Russian people for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Kyrgyz delegation,” and invites the Russian president to visit Kyrgyzstan this year. “The offer was gratefully accepted,” the statement said.

Zhaparov arrived in Russia on an official visit at the invitation of Putin the day before, May 7, and will stay in the country until May 9. As specified in the Kremlin, the talks between the leaders of the two countries were held in “an open, friendly and constructive atmosphere inherent in the allied nature of Russian-Kyrgyz relations.” Issues of bilateral cooperation, interaction within the framework of Eurasian integration associations, as well as regional and international problems were discussed at the meeting, the report says.

Putin named a landmark event is the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Moscow on the eve of Victory Day. At a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart, the Russian president noted that the current relations between the two states are on the rise.
