An agreement to pay for 25% of Russian gas supplies to Turkey in rubles will enter into force in the near future, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The parties agreed on partial payment for the energy resource in rubles in early August.
“Our agreement on the supply of natural gas of Russian origin to Turkey with payment for 25% of these supplies in Russian rubles should work,” Mr. Putin said during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
September 6 became known on the transfer of payment for gas supplies via the Power of Siberia to China in rubles and yuan in equal proportions. According to the head of Gazprom, Alexei Miller, the use of the ruble in energy transactions simplifies calculations and gives an “additional impetus” to the development of the economy.
