You should not look for rationality in US policy, since Americans are most often guided by momentary profit, Alexei Pushkov, Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy, wrote on his Telegram channel.
Seeking strategic rationality and rationality in all US actions, he says, means giving them much more political intelligence than they have.
“Americans, as a rule, go where there is money and where it can be obtained from trade or invested profitably, unless this is prohibited by law, for example, sanctions or restrictions on the sale of military products,” Pushkov wrote.
He recalled that before the Cold War, the United States sold machine tools to the Soviet Union, until the Second World War, participated in the creation of the military industry of Nazi Germany, and after the thaw in relations with China, they began to actively trade with it and invest money in China.
“In all these cases, the main motive was the desire to make a profit, and not considerations of a strategic nature. In addition, the United States has repeatedly shown its irrationality in policy by unleashing and continuing external wars and aggression,” Pushkov wrote.
