All works and authors were removed from the Unified State Examination in Literature in 2024 until the second half of the 19th century, follows from the demo version codifier exam published on the website of the Federal Institute for Pedagogical Measurements (FIPI). At the same time, a number of foreign authors were added to the exam – Umberto Eco, Thomas Stearns Eliot, as well as representatives of the literature of the peoples of Russia of the 20th century. According to the compilers, following the results of the exam, students will have to demonstrate “the formation of Russian civic identity” and “readiness to serve and defend the Fatherland.”

According to the demo version of the codifier project, sections on ancient Russian literature, literature of the 18th century, as well as literature of the first half of the 19th century, were completely removed from the exam. In particular, we are talking about such writers as Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Nikolai Gogol, Denis Fonvizin, Gavriil Derzhavin, Vasily Zhukovsky and Alexander Griboyedov.

At the same time, in the section of the codifier on the results of mastering the main educational program of secondary general education, there is a footnote according to which the works of Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Nikolai Gogol, Vasily Zhukovsky and Alexander Griboedov can be used when performing comparative tasks of the Unified State Examination and writing an essay. It is also proposed to add sections on the literature of the peoples of Russia, poetry and prose of the Great Patriotic War and the novel by Alexander Fadeev “The Young Guard” to the exam.

In addition, the compilers of the exam note that the results of the USE performance are associated with the achievement by schoolchildren of certain personal results in mastering the educational program. So, according to the results of the exam, schoolchildren must demonstrate, in particular, “the formation of Russian civic identity”, “patriotism”, “ideological conviction”, “readiness to serve and defend the Fatherland” and “awareness of the spiritual values ​​of the Russian people”.

The changes also affected the exam in history. The exam turned on assignments related to the military operation in Ukraine and the regions annexed to Russia. For example, students will have to arrange historical events in chronological order, including the signing of agreements on the admission of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into Russia.
