The government of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) formally resigned following the appointment of Prime Minister Vitaly Khotsenko as acting governor of the Omsk region, Denis Pushilin, acting head of the DPR, said. At the same time, according to him, virtually all officials continue to work in their places.
“After the president appointed Vitaly Khotsenko to the Omsk region, the government formally resigns. But it will perform its duties until the formation of a new composition,” said Mr. Pushilin in his Telegram channel.
Evgeny Solntsev, the first deputy chairman of the government of the DPR, may become the interim prime minister of the republic. Denis Pushilin has already submitted his candidacy to the People’s Council (parliament) of the republic.
March 19 President Vladimir Putin announced on the appointment of Vitaly Khotsenko to the post of Acting Governor of the Omsk Region during a meeting with him via videoconference. According to the head of state, Mr. Khotsenko showed himself well as head of the government of the DPR and deserved a new appointment.
Vitaliy Khotsenko has already become the second official working in the Donbass republics to hold the governor’s post in one of the regions. Formerly Acting Head of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug became former Deputy Prime Minister of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) Vladislav Kuznetsov.
