Publicist Maxim Sokolov dies – Kommersant

Publicist, writer and TV presenter Maxim Sokolov died at the age of 64. This was reported in “In contact with” his wife Svetlana. According to his wife, Mr. Sokolov died “suddenly”; the reasons for his death are being clarified.
“Maxim died an hour and a half ago. Suddenly. I can’t say the exact reason yet,” wrote Maxim Sokolov’s wife.
Maxim Sokolov was born in Moscow in 1959. In 1981 he graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Moscow State University. In 1990, he became a correspondent for Kommersant. Published in Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Ogonyok, Izvestia, RIA Novosti, Komsomolskaya Pravda and Russia Today. Mr. Sokolov also worked as a TV presenter and hosted the “However” program on Channel One and the “Namedni 1961–2003: Our Era” program on NTV. In 1994, according to the results of the Gong-94 mass media festival, Maxim Sokolov was recognized as the best writing journalist.
