Avoid negative statements
In connection with the special operation of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, Internet users are faced with a lot of false information aimed at discrediting the actions of the authorities and the Russian army. Psychologist Ersteya Days emphasized that such fakes give out anonymous messages with “intimidating” content.
In conversation with NEWS.ru Days explained that posts with such content on the Web are nothing more than an attempt “without firing a shot” to sow panic and demoralize Russian citizens by penetrating deep into the rear and sowing conflicting, pernicious information.
The psychologist advises Russians to be vigilant and not to believe such information if it contains intimidation, an abundance of negative statements and catchy, intrusive slogans, such as advertising, containing categorical and black-and-white shades. As an example, she cited such slogans as “hooray”, “we are finished” or those statements that are aimed at discrediting decision makers. According to Days, fakers create an image of an enemy to be hated and victims to be saved.
In addition, the expert strongly recommends being skeptical of messages that appeal to higher powers, religious images and terminology, as well as conspiracy theories and conspiracy fantasies. Such statements, according to the psychologist, are characterized by the anonymity of the author, the absence of references to the source and the inability to verify the accuracy of the information. Such posts tend to be accompanied by “stock” illustrations or “flashy,” obvious photoshop, Days added.
The specialist also recalled that “stuffing” are calls for illegal actions, namely, to go out somewhere, run away, urgently sign something, and so on. She stressed that the Russians should rely on the official reports of the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Russian Ministry of Health and the Russian Emergencies Ministry. Days urged citizens to consume less emotionally charged information, “not to be infected” by it, and not to transmit anxiety to loved ones. The psychologist concluded that it was the confused state that the enemy needed, no matter what mask he took.
